One of the most common requests I get from my students is to teach them a Christmas song. If you think your family may look in your direction to entertain them with a Christmas tune while you're opening presents this year, I've got a classic one for you to play for them. This arrangement of 'What Child Is This' (AKA Greensleeves) is a chord melody, so called because both the chords and melody are included, rather than playing just the melody or just strumming the chords. All of the chords are basic, open position chords, or variations of them. Most likely you are already familiar with them. Single notes are mixed in with the chords. The key to getting this to sound right is to pay attention to how many strings your strum in each chord. For example, for the first chord, Am, strum down to and including the 2nd string, rather than strumming all the way down to the 1st string like you normallywould.
This one is guaranteed to impress. Give it a shot, watch thevideoof me playing it, andemail meif you have any questions.
