The Good, The Bad, The Ugly, and the Beautiful

Cruising as a Musician in Hawaii

My contract performing guitar in the band known as The Wave, a party band on a cruise ship in Hawaii, came to an end in June 2012.  The experience had lots of ups and downs and some drama. The most important thing, however, was that I was doing what I love to do to earn a living, and in this regard, working on the ship was a huge success. It's the reason I signed on to do this in the first place, as it's not easy to earn steady, full time income performing as a musician on land. Working there allowed me to take care of some important business: I could finally afford some much needed guitar maintenance, had a custom guitar strap made, got a few new guitar toys, and paid off a bunch of debt. Of course, I also got to see the Hawaiian Islands and be a tourist when I wasn't working . Some highlights - going zip lining on Kauai, seeing the volcano Mt. Kilauea, swimming with the dolphins, watching the sun rise over Haleakala Crater, and going to a cacao farm. And of course, the beautiful, sunny weather was nice too. I put together a slide show on Flickr of my best photos!
